The Balik Pinas! Balik Hanapbuhay! Program (BPBH) provides cash assistance for OFWs who want to start a business. This helps OFWs to get back on their feet when they decide to stay in the Philippines for good and still provide for their families. The money is intended for livelihood use only and OFWs can receive the following amount of money:

  • Maximum of PHP20,000 for ACTIVE OWWA members
  • Maximum of PHP10,000 for INACTIVE OWWA members that has more than 1 contribution.
  • Maximum of PHP5,000 for INACTIVE OWWA members but only have 1 contribution.

When claiming the OFW records, the OFW, their beneficiaries, or other agencies must bring the following:

OFW Information Sheet Appointment Setting

The OFW Information Sheet was created to give convenience to people or agencies who needed them. They can easily request it through an online appointment.

  1. Go to the POEA website at https://ofwrecords.dmw.gov.ph/.
  2. Once you are on the DMW OFE Records Online Appointment System page, scroll down and click “Register/Make an appointment” at the bottom of the page.
  3. Fill out all the information needed and make sure that all information is correct. Double-check for the spelling.
  4. Choose the branch office and the date you preferred to pick up the documents.
  5. Once you are done, click “Submit”.

If you have already requested before or if you already have an account, you can use your old Appointment Reference Number or ARN to request.

  1. Go to the POEA website at https://ofwrecords.dmw.gov.ph/.
  2. Get your previous Appointment Reference Number (ARN) and fill out the information needed such as your mother’s maiden name, last name, and first name.
  3. Click the box for “I am not a robot” and click “Log in”.

OFW Information Sheet Pick Up

To get the Information Sheet, you need to go to your chosen Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) office. Here’s the step on what to do once you are in the office:

  1. Ask for the verification form and service number from the guard on duty.
  2. Fill out the verification request form and attach the other requirements listed above this article. Wait for your number to be called.
  3. When your number is called, go to “Service Window” and submit the form and other requirements. If all your requirements are complete, your request will be verified and printed. If it’s incomplete, you need to gather the missing requirements.
  4. Wait for your name to be called at the “Releasing Window”.
  5. Once your name is called, you will be given a duly-certified print-out information sheet or certification of no record. If the record needs manual retrieval, you will be given a “Verification Status Form” and the date when you will go back to the office.
  6. Sign the releasing logbook as proof of receipt.

Once you have completed the PDOS or Peer Counselling Program, you will receive the Commission on Filipino Overseas (CFO) sticker. It will be placed inside your Philippine passport and will be inspected by the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation (BID).

Applying for PDOS Seminar

The online registration for the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) is from Monday to Thursday 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Follow these steps on how to apply for PDOS Seminar:

  • Click your preferred box.

  • Prepare to answer these questions:
    • What is the relationship of the registration to the petitioner?
    • What is your Country of Destination?
    • What is your visa hype/category classification?
  • Enter your e-mail address then click submit
  • Check your email. Click the “Confirm E-mail” link your received from CFO Manila.
  • Provide personal information such as last name, first name, middle name, suffix, birthdate, gender, civil status
  • Once you have finished entering your personal information, you will be directed to the PDOS schedule. Choose your preferred country, day, and hour for the seminar.
  • After choosing the timeslot, click the “Proceed to Registration”.

Reminders

  • Individual/First-Time-Registration – This is only for an individual emigrant or a first-timer.
  • Family Registration – If you are registering for your family or two or more people, click “Register Family Member”.
  • Take note of your 8-digit reference number. It is important for Family Registration and for those who want to have PDOS.

PDOS Attendees

The Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) was created for:

  • Emigrants
  • Temporary Workers
  • Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs)
  • Aspiring Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs)

PDOS Exemption

All emigrants must use the Reservation and Registration Online System (R&R) to get Emigrant Registration Sticker from the Commission. However, some emigrants are exempted to attend the PDOS/PEER. Here is the list of people who are allowed to get a sticker without attending the mandatory seminar.

  • Children below 12 years old.
  • Senior citizens (60 years old and above)
  • People with mental illness or psychological disorder
  • People with chronic or long-term illnesses and are not able to work.
  • Residents/immigrants/emigrants that have proof of stay for a total of two months such as issued ID, traveled abroad, visa from your country of destination.

For proxies, only the children’s legal/natural/biological/adoptive parents are the only ones who are allowed to be their representatives. Others must present the following documents:

  • Medical report/certificate (Except 60 years old and above)
  • Authorization letter from the emigrant
  • Proxy’s original and valid identification card with photo.

Attending the PDOS

If you applied under a recruitment agency, they will schedule you for your Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS). However, if you are a direct hire you will do the scheduling on your own. For household service workers or domestic workers, their recruitment agency will handle the registration.

If you intend to attend the seminar face to face, then just proceed to OWWA office in Pasay City on your chosen appointment. However, if you want to attend online, you have to make sure you have a ZOOM app (You can download it via Play Store).

Once you are in the seminar, take down all the important information and make sure you understand the speaker. After finishing it, you can now receive your certificate.
